Donut Review 9: Jarams Donuts - Dallas
It was 7:30 am when we passed a large strip mall sign, located off of Preston Road in Dallas that read "DONUTS".
I always worry when I see a sign that simply states "donuts." How original could they possibly be? I wondered if I was at the right spot.
It wasn't until I pulled into the front row parking spot of my destination that I saw the brightly colored Jarams logo I was looking for, along with a line that stretched from their packed donut display case, to the door.
Jarams Donuts tops most of the "must visit" doughnut shop lists for the Dallas area, so I knew I couldn't pass it up while I was in town.
Mae and I waited patiently in line as flat screen TVs flashed a list of incredible options for us to choose from (donuts shaped like minions, the most incredible pigs in a blanket selection, fruit-donut creations, and more!)
After much deliberation, the teenage girl in front of us turned around and said, "whatever you get, you have to get the crossoint donut!" The moment we looked towards where she was pointing, we were sold!
Now, we couldn't just get the regular croissant donut either, so we decided on the option topped with Nutella, strawberries, and powdered sugar!
For comparison purposes, I took a picture of a standard sized donut to pair with our croissant donut, to attempt the show the true size difference we were dealing with!
This baby was huge! It was tall, it had a countless number of flakey layers, and the toppings alone gave it another inch of the height.
Mae and I took our first powered-sugar coated bite and our mouths basically exploded. It was rich, flavorful, and refreshingly different from the standard donut texture!
Despite the size, this is not a donut that will keep you full until lunch, but it will make your taste buds sing to the high heavens.
DE-LI-CIOUS! Mae and I give Jarams a well deserved 10!
