SFA Lumberjack Gus Johnson made his professional football debut tonight with the Dallas Cowboys, and he turned the Lumberjack community upside down when he showed us some love, in the end zone!
I think I can speak for most Lumberjacks when I say, it was simply enough to see Gus padded up in Cowboys gear and playing his heart out, just like he did at the school where he got his start.
So when we started noticing that the possibility for a touchdown was at his fingertips, we wanted that moment for him!
In typical Gus-Bus fashion, he pushed his way through to the TD line and we were going crazy! Our very own Lumberjack just scored his first professional touchdown.... and what does he do!?
He throws up that axe!! He threw it up with all with all of us!
In that moment, Gus brought every cheering Lumberjack with him to that line, he allowed us to share that experience with him, and he reminded us all that he will never forget his home.
Isn't that all we could ever ask for?
According to reports, Gus was taken out during the third quarter of the game, due to a dislocated shoulder. Gus told Cowboys staff that he will be fine, but his time out of practice has yet to be determined.
Gus, we're all hoping for a quick recovery. There is a whole new crowd of supporters rooting for the Cowboys, now!
Go, Gus! Go, Boys! and as always... AXE 'EM JACKS!
