Holidays like the Fourth of July are so special because often times you're able to look forward to some really amazing family traditions, whether it's parties, time out at the lake or good food you only get once a year.
My new Tyler family looks forward to Mama Mills' homemade peach ice cream. I understand I am jumping into this family tradition a little late in the game, but after one bowl, I decided I was on board for life!
I would like to be able to say Mama Mills' and I made her famous Fourth of July Peach Ice Cream together, but in all reality, my role in this process involved me patiently watching on the sideline, in awe of her ice cream greatness.
My inner foodie was in heaven from beginning to end, because I quickly became the official taste tester. I had to try a slice of each peach she cut into for what Mama Mills called, "quality assurance," I was able to lick the spoon (which is always the best part), and I got the first small cup of ice cream before the holiday! Sorry Ryan and Connor!
Mama Mills gave me fair warning that this was no "diet" recipe. Inside this one gallon batch of glory was the perfect blend of heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, four giant cups of fresh peaches, and some special loving from the creator herself.
Blue Bell has nothing on this woman. Looking forward to pairing this dessert with dinner fresh off the smoker, tomorrow!
Wishing everyone a fun and safe fourth! I'll be waking you up on TV from 8-9am!
