I couldn't think of a more spectacular way to start a morning than seeing hundreds of hot air balloons lift right over my head! Last weekend on Good Morning East Texas Weekend I featured clips from the opening days of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, not even realizing that the following week I would have the opportunity to witness this stunning festival for myself!
It was a very early morning for me. I made sure my camera and I were ready for action at the crack of dawn. 7am is when the balloons were scheduled for their morning accession and I was promptly prepared on top of a hill overlooking the park where the balloons were being aired up.
It was a cold morning. It was in fact the first time I've been "cold" this whole year. I wrapped up in one of my Mexican blankets and the waited paitenly for the sight I showed my East Texas viewers.
The balloons began lifting into the sky right on schedule, but not all at once. These multi-colored beauties seemed to be multiplying as time went on. Soon enough, the sky was so packed, the widest lens on my camera want even able to capture them all!
I personally loved the classic colorful designs, while many of kids next to me could spot an animal balloon from a mile away.
It was wonderful to feel so small.
